Weapons
I've picked up 2 weapons (fusion beam rifle and the mark 2 repeater rifle) yet they don't show up in my inventory for me to use. Am I missing something? They are not cybernetic weapons|||Those are weapons for HR-V :) You'll be able to equip them at a workbench by accessing the HR-V tab.
best config for a pure human
Just wondering how to attribute skill points for the absolute toughest 100%human...
any help is appreciated.
RM|||Well if you're going 100% human, (Or 93% with the eye) You're best bet if you're going down combat is to get the first 2 talents 5/5 for Health and Damage, you want to get the Shard Fist upgrade including the 1/1 at the end of it, and of course, the most important talent for a full human. Discipline.
You have to be skilled with it though because it's not passive, you have to use it at the beginning of a fight, it should last you a good portion of it, and when you lose it, switch to shield, or switch back and forth. It's a good tactic for human endurance. You sacrifice the damage of the cybernetics to get the power of fortitude for the human spirit.
Happy hunting.

Cybernetics
Aside from slightly different ending, and the 2 Skills you don't have access to.
Do Cybernetics have any other penalty?|||you looking ugly.|||So that would be a no then.
I actually don't mind the Cybernetic look. Except the Spine, not a fan of reptiles.|||There's really no penalty except on the role-playing aspect of it, basically the storyline part you mention.
It's actually the other way around, there's a lot of penalties for being human, lots of missed out talents / etc.|||Vintageone

Dodging with Q and E
Since the Space Siege (Dungeon Siege) engine doesnt support WASD movement, there might be another way to make dodging easier:
Instead of dodging in the direction you are shooting, you move 90° to the left or to the right by hitting the Q or E button.
Maybe it would be a good idea to make a shorter dodge animation too. Only one or two small steps instead of a fancy roll. That way you can stay on target and avoid taking all the hits. And a lot of FPSs use the same keys for looking around corners, so they are already 'hardwired' into the gamer brain.
Its not a perfect solution but it should be possible to implement it without rewriting half the game engine. It wont mess to much with the game balance either. If you had full WASD control you could dance around those bugs without taking any serious damage.
What do you think?|||Col. Jessep|||Kal_Jerico|||Some time ago i posted a similar proposal to improve the controls as they currently exist, because i also have doubts that a) WASD easily can be implemented additionally and b) that it will be a good implementation since many WASD controlled games suffer a non-ergonomic and botchy concept there your left hand is totally overstrained with maneuvering your char and activating features simultaneously.
Just press key '1' while turning left...
Keys to switch the all the guns, dropping/placing grenades/mines by keys, healing, collecting loot, a couple of key-commands to give offensive/defensive/formation/waiting/etc. orders to H-RV - even you can play piano on the keyboard or your hero will be WASD-less half of the time...
A well implemented WASD/key concept could intercept such matters maybe, but not one poorly attached afterwards.
Thus for this game i really hope GPG is willed at least to revise dodging anyhow…|||Kal_Jerico|||I'm surprised they didn't bother with WASD controls, have they said why or is it just being slack?
You could even mod WC3 to use WASD for movement, surely it is easier when you can do it in the base code.|||Chris Taylor said in an interview (on a German site IIRC) that the Dungeon Siege engine doesnt support WASD controls. I guess it would have been to expensive.
(Space Siege is based on the DS engine.)|||I'm actually pleased with the dodge system, my only problem with it is it's super-sensitive responsiveness.
If you hit e twice (like you spam skills in an rpg) you'll actually dodge twice, whether you want to or not.
Other than that, I actually like the dodge system, you get to aim where you want to dodge and quickly move your mouse back, keeps your mind into the game.|||I want a and e instead since I use an azerty board.
Infact in the options I set it to azerty and when I hit Z to collect parts... my camera zoomed in. When I hit W it collected the parts. Why bother setting it to azerty input in the options if it still acts like a qwerty -_-

How to play Space Siege
The best way I have found of playing Space Siege is to watch 2001, then Alien, then take a fistful of hallucinogenic drugs. I got to the second level easily but was then eaten by a time monster, which resulted in everything going backwards. Has anyone found a way to defeat this challenging opponent?
The one criticism though that I have of the game so far is that I thought the atmosphere was spoiled somewhat by having a monster that looks like my mum come in and tell me I'd ruined her life.|||Third worst troll post ever.|||I wonder why this has not been deleted yet.

WASD key movement
First off - kudos to GPG, great game! I do love your innovation.
So after jumping in the demo the first thing I did was hit WASD to try to move around. Naturally the game is true to the whole diablo/dungeon siege style 'click-to-move' model, but with a much more interactive gameplay it just felt like I should be moving around with the keyboard.
A while back I played a similar sci-fi top-down game, I forget what it was called though and it's annoying me, that was a lot like Space Siege and that used to the keyboard to move the character around.
I would very much like to be able to do the same thing in SS, so I guess I'm just talking aloud in a vain hope that someone important will read my post and go "hmm, ok, lets listen to this nova fella and quickly put this in the release version" or maybe even say "well actually you just do this and then this and you can do that!", but I don't like my chances.|||I had the exact same thought when I played the demo. Using the WASD keys for moving would also allow you to move WHILE fireing and to avoid enemy fire easier.
Using the WASD keys just feels natural and an option to use them for movement would be good.|||You don't get to use WASD? *cancels demo download*
I could never work games without WASD.|||Omecron|||BulletMagnet|||I agree with al of the above, WASD was the first thing I tried too.
Maybe if they made a "sticky" targeting thing where once you attack a target you'll attack that target until it's dead, letting you move around without have to continuously click on the enemies.
But WASD would still be better.
Mike|||OrangeKnight|||You can hold out the left mouse and he'll move twoards it.
I prefer that in isometric RPGs than WASD.
And yeah the WASD camers is a bit new gotta get used to it. :)|||The Problem TCC, is that we Can't simultaneously Rightclick to shoot at aliens and Left click somewhere else to move.
It's like Starcraft: The Dungeon Siege Edition!
Mike|||I raised this point in brent_w's "Needs a console release" thread.

I see once again game developers are being foolish. Such a tragic destiny. Can humans ever defy fate?|||NovaPrim3|||So.. who was the one thinking that a 8 year old control sheme is fit for the year 2008?
We had tht in diablo and diablo 2 and we had it in dozens of clones and it was an annoyance in each of them.
Read this carefully: The moment you make a game about a guy using a gun to shoot things, make it a wasd shooter'esque controlsheme because i simply can't stand being a fckn turret.|||Quote:|||Darh_Carl99|||Use shield, dodging problem solved.|||Making a control system deliberately awkward just to force players to gain skills to overcome it, is not good design. Otherwise we'd all be applauding Starcraft's 12 unit selection limit.
Even fighting games have much simplified their control schemes since the early days.
Tactics should be about what you CHOOSE to do, not what the control systems lets you fumble your way through.|||AdmiralZeech|||I just used shield and stopped caring about wasd -_- I'd need zqsd for my azerty board anyway|||Ah I see TCC is telling us how "fine" the game is and how he'd prefer it not to change again. Good ol TCC, haven't changed a bit since his days with us in FA. :)
